Banpremiär!

Lördagen den 19 april var inprickad i kalendern för ett besök vid kemora i Vetil. En historisk dag för teamet. För en del av teammedlemmarna var detta första gången på bana och första gången på asfaltbana med bilen. Dagen började inte så bra, med ett bränsleläckage, men problemet åtgärdades och vi kunde fortsätta mot Vetil. Väl framme vid Kemora betalade vi deltagaravgift åt köyhät ratarit som hade hyrt banan. Schysst av dem att låta oss komma och köra! Alla var nöjda med bilen, som gick förvånansvärt bra efter lite justeringar. Det var ett varierande urval av bilar på banan, både tävlingsbilar och bruksbilar. Vi jämförde såklart bilens kapacitet med de andra bilarna i samma klass och kunde konstatera att vi har en konkurrenskraftig bil! Efter en dags körande var alla nöjda och med ett brett leende på läpparna körde vi hemmåt. Vinterns mekkande har lönat sig.

Notable endurance races

Triple Crown
In endurance racing, three events have come to form a Triple Crown. They are considered three of the most challenging endurance races over the decades: the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ken Miles came close to winning all three events in the inaugural year for the 24 Hours of Daytona, but would lose out at Le Mans due to an error in his team orders, relegating him to second.
The last car to win all three events in the same year was the Porche 962 in 1986. However, since 2003, Daytona has fallen under different rules from those used as Sebring and Le Mans, meaning that car regulations make it impossible for any racing car to win all three events. Drivers are still able to run all three events, although none have yet to win all three in the same year.

Endurance Racing in Finland

Endurance racing is a form of motorsport which is meant to test the durability of equipment and endurance of drivers. Teams of multiple drivers attempt to cover a large distance in a single event, with drivers given a break with the ability to change during the race. Endurance races can be run either to cover a set distance in laps as quickly as possible, or to cover as much distance as possible over a preset amount of time. One of the more common lengths of endurance races has been running for 1000 km, or roughly six hours. Longer races can run for 1000 miles, 12 hours, or even 24 hours.

Here in Finland the races are normally 6 hours, but also one 24 hours competition is held per year. Teams can consist of anywhere from four to six drivers per event, which is dependent on the driver's endurance abilities, length of the race, or even the rules for each event. In order to take part in a competition you have to be at least 16 years old and also have a basic racing license. In endurance there are two main classes: Endurance Racing (ERA) and Endurance Saloon (ESA). The main difference between the two classes is that in Endurance Racing the cars can be bought after the race. In a competition there can be up to 56 participating teams. A driving stint normally lasts for about one hour.
